This weekend we celebrated my husbands birthday, though we were on a bit of a tight budget I still wanted him to a nice birthday cake. I figured that if I baked him one, that it would be a bit cheaper (the cheap-wad frugal shopper, that I am) and all I would have to do was make it tasty and pretty. Thankfully, my husband made it a bit easier by requesting a French Vanilla cake. =)
So, while in the baking section at the grocery store, gathering my thoughts, I created The French Vanilla Chocolate Mousse Cake!
With my littlest one still breastfeeding, I knew that I would not have time to make a cake from scratch so I had to go with the pre-made stuff. I bought the French Vanilla cake mix (as per requested), a white whipped frosting, and a chocolate whipped frosting. That was it! Really! All I had to do was follow the directions on the box, pour the mix into 2 round pans and bake. I layered the two cakes with a center of chocolate whipped frosting (here, you can add bananas, strawberries, instant coffee, whatever of your liking). I then lathered it in the white whipped frosting and topped it with some chocolate sprinkles that I had found in my cupboard. There’s the birthday cake made simple!
Now of course, with a three year old in the house, we had to customize it. So I found some red cake gel in the cupboard and gave it to N. He put his marking on the cake and planted in some candles. Voila!
This looks delicious.. hmmm.. yummy!! =)
Thanks! It turned out pretty delicious, I must say!
