I have been doing the homeschooling thing with Noah now, for just about 2 weeks. We are both hangin’ tough. It is a little insane at times with having an 8 month old sideline-man that watches with a squirmy butt and screams every 5 minutes.
I know, you look at him now and think, “sure, sure…”.
But don’t let that face fool you. Oh, no. There is a little baby fuse in there preparing to exploded at any given moment. Most likely when I am in the middle of something important.
Yesterday, was not a good day for us. Isaac was not having any of it. He did not like his highchair, his walker or his jumping-play saucer. He just was not having it. It drove Noah and I to quit for awhile to tend to his needs.
Today… to-day… is another day like yesterday. I don’t know what I have gotten myself into but it sure is time I figure something out. It seems that every time Noah and I sit at the table, Isaac screams. It may be the lack of attention. It may be that he has peed for the 45th time this morning. What ever the deal is, N and I have to get this school thing down.
After giving it some thought (while running back and forth from the kids to the computer) I have come to figure that I will start putting them down for naps at different times. Sigh. This means that I will have to give up my 2 hours to myself, where I get away to wash the dishes and shower. (You didn’t think that I really had time to myself, did you? Okay, I didn’t think so.)
Tomorrow this is how it will go down:
- Nurse Isaac to sleep in my bed and move him to the crib. If he wakes up, then nurse him back to sleep in my bed and leave him there.
- Have Noah get dressed for school
- Say our entrance prayer and begin
These last 2 weeks we’ve been working with the letter A, the vocab word: Ant, and learning that zero really is a number. We’ve been counting and adding. Noah is really getting this stuff. It’s amazing to watch these things click on in his mind.
Now if we can only get to where we are sitting for more than 5 minutes at a time…

It sounds like you are doing a wonderful job!
Thank you very much! It takes a lot of extra work somedays.
I completely understand. It is on days like that, I have to remind myself of what the alternative is. Then do I realize, how the extra work is all worth it (even if it IS tiring).
Wow. Homeschooling a 3 year old! You rock!
Haha Well thank you!
I try my darnedest!
How is your year going? I homeschooled my oldest son from gr 3 – gr 12. When he graduated high school, he had amassed 70+ college credits and was able to begin his college career as a junior (3rd year student). My second oldest is a high school senior this year and should be able to graduate with approx. 35 college credits. My third and fourth sons are both utilizing the public school system and I have been very happy with the results thus far (gr. 3 & K). I’m unsure what I’ll be doing next year in regard to school (home vs public) …. I’ve been waiting on the Lord’s leading. =) Blessings to you for your time investment! It’s HARD WORK to homeschool the kiddos and manage a home at the same time!!!
Oh, my! You must be a homeschooling pro!
I don’t really know what I am going to do with our boys as they age, as of right now, things seem to be going really well. Noah is 3 years old (in preschool) and is picking up on EVERYTHING. It amazes me to watch him learn. I hope that everything continues to go this well, I would really like to continue to homeschool ESPECIALLY since we will be moving to a city within the next year.
Thank you for your comment — I enjoyed reading about your family!
